I was very lucky always to have loved ones around me with amazing massage skills. The ‘after class trigger point sessions’ of John helped me so often to recover. And with my sensitive stomach , Ricky’s Chi Nei Tsang massages got me to stay healthy.
At the moment I don’t have any of these amazing healers around me, and I am teaching 15 classes a week. I needed a new survival strategy and I found one; Yoga Therapy Balls, my new discovery.
In Laurel’s anatomy workshop at Urban Yoga I got a taste of these amazing things. She brought a whole bunch with her from New York, and worked with us on freeing the shoulders. When I first placed this little thing under my shoulder blade to roll back and forth on my mat, I almost cried. Apparently my shoulders desperately needed a little love.
The therapy balls are made of a special rubber that grips at your skin, grabs at multiple layers of muscles, and rubs out adhesions and tension, providing a deep tissue massage.
See the video above for instructions on how to use them!
